San Francisco, California, has seen the resale of homes drop 30 percent from last -- a downward trend seen in much of the state. Job growth has also taken a hit, according to statistics from CNN, with a negative 8.26 percent drop. Despite these negative figures, its not all doom and gloom for The City by the Bay. Single family home prices continue to rise, with the median being reported near $870,000, and days on market are holding steady. And local expert and Realtor, Andrew La Mont, notes, "We expect sales to be slow this month, then start to recover at the end of the quarter as the credit crunch is alleviated." Housing Groups "Revolt" over Toronto"s Proposed Land Transfer Tax
The City of Toronto"s Executive Committee has unanimously approved a staff recommendation that a new land transfer tax be implemented for home buyers. The tax would double current land transfer rates, and result in another $4,200 in taxes for the average Toronto home buyer. The proposal will go before the full City Council in July.

At the first board meeting, the president gives you a pep talk about not giving instructions to contractors or discussing board issues with other members unless you preface comments with "the board policy/decision is...". You bristle at this. Who does this guy think he is? This is America, Home of the Free and Land of the Lone Ranger. Why shouldn"t you be able to say what you want, when you want and to whoever you want?
