Remodeler Trade Group Hammers Out Relief Effort

The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) is proud to announce the creation of the NARI Relief Effort established to donate both monetary support and numerous man-hours toward the devastated areas along the east coast. NARI is comprised of remodeling contractors, associated vendors and suppliers, as well as National Members whose business is related to the remodeling and home improvement industry. “What has happened in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania is certainly a tragedy none of us will ever forget,” said NARI President Tony LaPelusa. “We all watched it unfold on our television sets and see our fellow Americans removing rubble a bucket at a time, constantly reminding us that there are more than 6,000 of our countrymen buried there. Most of us feel helpless sitting in our living rooms, which is why NARI decided to take action” NARI Chapters in the immediate vicinity of New York city are currently organizing to provide volunteer remodeling and restoration services to companies at “ground zero” that have been damaged as a result of the attack on the World Trade Centers. In addition, members in more than 50 chapters throughout the country are being encouraged to make a monetary donation through the NARI national headquarters in Des Plaines, Illinois. Associated businesses and homeowners are also encouraged to contribute. To kick-off the effort, NARI’s Board of Directors voted today to donate the first $1,000 on behalf of the Association. Specifically, money collected will be earmarked for either the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund or the New York Police & Fire Widow’s & Children’s Benefit Fund. “We may not be able to assist with the actual clean-up or search and rescue efforts, but NARI members can still make a difference,” said LaPelusa. “Our members are remodelers by trade and therefore its natural for NARI to make this commitment to help rebuild our country in any way that we can.” LaPelusa added, “This is a long-term effort which will require not only the immediate assistance so desperately needed in the affected areas, but also ongoing support so that the process of rebuilding can continue in the months to come.” To participate in the NARI Relief Effort, make checks payable to one of the following (donor’s choice): AMERICAN RED CROSS NEW YORK POLICE & FIRE DISASTER RELIEF FUND WIDOW’S & CHILDREN’S BENEFIT FUND Please send all donations in care of the following: NARI RELIEF EFFORT 780 LEE STREET, SUITE 200 DES PLAINES, IL 60016 For further information, contact the NARI National headquarters at 800-611-NARI (6274).
